What we did

Contemporary Spa Bath

Designed by: Marcia Moore

Originally built as a separate self-contained sink area with a second door leading into a full bathroom, this room had lots of wasted space. By removing the wall, we created a spacious contemporary bath with a minimalist, spa-like feel using sleek, light wood cabinetry and contemporary lighting. A custom glass mosaic tile backsplash installed vertically to resemble a city skyline is a creative custom feature. Notice the enormous moon (mirror) over the skyline. From crowded to expansive, dated to delightful, this bathroom remodel is one of our favorites.

What they said

“We gutted a bathroom stuck in the 1960s and replaced it with a clean, contemporary look. There is so much out there to choose from, which can be overwhelming, but Marcia guided us through by showing us options that fit our style. We knew we wanted a floating vanity, and Marcia knew exactly where to go for a custom design made locally. The beautiful piece sets the tone for the entire room. Another key design element that Marcia brought to our project was the unique application for the backsplash tile. Nearly everyone who sees it comments about how fun and interesting it is. The bathroom is now exactly as we imagined and is a perfect reflection of our style. Marcia was easy and fun to work with, and we’re looking forward to planning another project with her.” — K.R.

What had been a vanity area is now the sink wall; what had been a shower is now the tub; what had been the sinks is now the shower. Unseen behind the photo is the now separate water closet. The awkward hexagon window became the focal point as the gem of the bath area, and by repetition of the shape in the window treatment, mirrors and stool.Brown wooden kitchen cupboard
