“Smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly.”
The color of stormy skies, ocean waves, denim jackets and cityscapes, Behr Paint’s 2019 Color of the Year, “Blueprint,” is an unexpected but perfect summertime blue. Carefree and laid-back, Blueprint is a bold choice but with soft, soothing undertones. Behr describes it this way:
“An honest, approachable color that conjures up the blueprints builders rely on to bring architectural designs to life, Blueprint creates a space where you can build your own reimagined life—where awareness of what we want to build for ourselves can transform into action.”
Blueprint is the perfect hue for walls, furniture, front doors, and tile. It looks great in kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms…really any room in the house.
I like that this calming gray blue is an alternative to the more typical summertime blues, such as turquoise or nautical navy.
Here are few ways to use this lovely hue in your home.
It’s perfect on kitchen cabinets.
It blends beautifully with other blues for a monochromatic palette and is a perfect pop in a closet or pantry.
Though not technically “Blueprint,” this similar blue gray is gorgeous in this dining room.
Loving this ombre look in the powder room, and how this beautiful color makes this bedroom so cozy.
More monochromatic loveliness. And just look how wonderful Blueprint looks next to the crisp white wainscoting.
Love the depth of color on these tiles.
Doesn’t Blueprint makes this front door so inviting?
And finally, I had to throw in these booties, because, well….they’re just great.
So what do you think of “Blueprint?” I like that it acts as a neutral. It plays well with so many different colors and looks sophisticated and bold, while still being soft and quiet. It’s a perfect summertime or anytime hue. Want to work some blue gray into your new home or remodel? Give us a call at 314.395.1114 or CLICK HERE to contact us. Color is our specialty!
