When David Reed was seven years old he was already drawing detailed floor plans
and room elevations for enormous castles that towered over imaginary kingdoms.
Today, this early visionary is still drawing and imagining, maybe not for castles, but
for real homes and real clients.
A 2011 graduate of Maryville University with a bachelor’s degree in interior design,
David began his professional journey selling hardwood flooring, a job on the
periphery of design, but which gave him much experience on the technical
side—calculating square footages and specifying hardwood flooring options. From
there, David honed his craft at Brooksberry Kitchens and Baths, as well as another
top St. Louis interior design firm and now is excited to continue his career as a
technical designer with Marcia Moore Design.
Obsessed with details and a self-proclaimed micro engineer, David enjoys the puzzle
aspect of design: moving doorways around, changing windows, knocking down
walls—whatever it takes to make a space function better and flow effortlessly.
Fluent in multiple design software programs, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp,
and 2020, David creates detailed floor plans, comprehensive space plans and
realistic 3D renderings. You’ll also find him on every job site taking meticulous
measurements for furniture, cabinetry and millwork.
David’s creativity doesn’t stop with design. A music aficionado and “geeky vinyl
nerd”, David plays guitar, collects them and says he “goes to way more live shows
than anyone my age should.”
