“Every once in a while I see a fantastic piece of furniture that I need to share – just to open all my readers’ eyes to the amazing possibilities that exist beyond our sometimes limited Midwest box. So I decided that I should start a category called Fantastic Furniture and make it an ongoing part of my blog. I saw this piece on 1stdibs.com this morning. Yes, part of my early morning weekend ritual is perusing wonderful sites like 1st Dibs to get creative inspiration. On the couch with the dog and cat napping next to me, lots of coffee and my trusty iPad in hand searching the Net. I know, I’m a design geek!
One of the ways I differentiate myself from other designers (my design claim to fame) is that I am always trying to find the “unique” in every project. Every kitchen has to have cabinets and appliances; every dining room has a table and chairs; every bedroom has a bed and dresser….. You get the idea – easy for things to start looking no different than many other rooms you’ve seen. Imagine this unique piece as a dining room buffet and all of a sudden the room has been transformed. Add a seriously stunning chandelier and over-the–top wallpaper and the room is now magazine-able. I just made up a new word – means worthy of being professionally photographed and featured in a magazine. Notice how the buffet, chandelier and wallpaper are all variations on the look of a water lily. Now there’s another interesting aspect of design – repetition. Maybe I’ll do another post on that sometime.
So…check back often to see more magazine-able finds in my Fantastic Furniture section.
All the best,
